Perfect Blackjack Game Review

Perfect Blackjack is a blackjack game type popular with many due to a fun feature offering high risks and high rewards. It has been cloned from the standard Vegas Strip-style Blackjack with only one variation added – the Perfect Pair side bet which enables you to make a wager on whether your initial cards will have something in common, i.e. are a pair of some sort. We explain the basic perfect blackjack rules in more detail here, using Playtech’s online version of the game which is, more or less, currently turning into a classic.

How to play Perfect Blackjack?

Rules of Perfect Blackjack

The rules of Perfect Blackjack will sound familiar. Just as usual, dealer stands on soft 17 and you can make an insurance side bet if the dealer’s card up is an Ace. Splitting and doubling down is also available. What is new here is the option of playing up to five blackjack hands simultaneously and making a perfect pair bet on each and any of your hands, as well as on the dealer’s hand, at varying amounts within the betting limits. To clarify, you can bet £1 on your first and second hands, £2 on your next hand and so on, and perhaps, say, £1 or £5 also on the dealer’s hand. These six in total side bets are optional and independent of your regular bet, though a regular bet is still compulsory.

There are three types of pairs that will bring you winnings and they each have a different payout based on how yours or the dealer’s two initial cards match:

  • Mixed Pair (mixed colors & suits, e.g. Jack of Spades and Jack of Hearts): 6 to 1 payout
  • Colored Pair (same color, mixed suits, Jack of Spades and Jack of Clubs): 12 to 1 payout
  • Perfect Pair (same color, same suit, two Jacks of Spades): 25 to 1 payout

Perfect Blackjack is played with six decks, with a minimum wager of £1 and maximum wager typically depending on your VIP status.

How to Make a Perfect Pair Bet

You place your perfect pair bets at the very start of the game when you are also making your normal bet. Cards for each hand are dealt in a semicircle on the table, with cards being dealt moving from your right to your left and actions being taken individually for each one. All standard actions are available, except for surrender. There is also a 10-card Charlie rule in place where you win automatically if you get to 10 card draws without busting and the dealer hasn’t had a blackjack yet. On the down side, you are not allowed to double after splitting and split Aces get only one card. Even with these two house-favorable rules, Perfect Blackjack is still one of the online casino games with the lowest house edge out there, namely 99.58%. No wonder it is a gamblers’ favorite.

Perfect Blackjack Games Online

What variety of Perfect Blackjack Games can be found online? Playtech’s Perfect Blackjack is the ideal specimen to look at for your first and subsequent perfect pair blackjack rounds. First of all, the game is excellent in terms of graphics quality, functionality and performance, and its desktop and mobile reincarnation stand completely on a par. Additionally, the majority of big online casino names give you short-term access to a demo version of this exact game, in case you want to test if you understand properly how it works, or if you simply want to get a taste of the action. With other games out there, you will get only slight variations of some blackjack rules and the payouts.

Winning at Perfect Blackjack

Remember, the essence of side bets is to increase the house edge, and as we’ve said before when laying out online blackjack strategies, side bets are not a sustainable strategy in the long term! Odds are significantly lower, which, of course, explains the mouth-watering payouts. Moreover, since these side bets work completely on chance, there is no perfect pair strategy to adhere to beyond the one you’d use for any blackjack game. Our recommendation is that you discipline yourself away from relying too much on side bets. Once in a while, however, you can spice things up and who knows, maybe luck will smile your way and you’ll be rewarded with a tempting stack of chips on your side of the table.
